The main character of the story is Pecola Breedlove because she is trying to grow as a person but here father and mother are abusing her. And they are not letting her grow into the woman she wants to be. Pecola goals is to have blue eyes because she thinks having blue eyes will help here look beautiful because she is not happy with who she is. The obstacles she has is that she is not happy to be around her mother and father And you cant blame her because the family members she has are all negative and abusive. When she is in that type of environment its very hard to stay motivated and love who you are. “We had just started elementary school. she said she wanted blue eyes”(Morrison XI) The conflict Pecola is having is she believes that she is ugly and having blue eyes will help her stand out from the rest. She has nobody to ask for help and feels lost so most of the time her decisions are not good. She has no support whats so ever because her mother and father are abusive and don't like her. The environment she is in is negativity and makes her feel even worse as a woman. She is basically stuck in a corner and there is no way out and finding a way out just seems impossible. “ when she comes out of the car we will beat her up”(Morrison 9) …show more content…
Pecola believes having blues eyes is important because people will not look at her and think she is ugly. Blue eyes are supposed to make her look pretty because it distracts people and keeps them focused on the blue eyes. I think it mostly symbolizes that black lives matter. And maybe pecola is trying to get the message across in a different way. “ I got blues in my meal barrel blues up on the shelf i got blues in my meal barrel blues up on the shelf blues in my bedroom cause i’m sleeping by myself”(Morrison
