Alternatively, Caitlin displayed a supportive leadership style when helping Abby complete Marketing Assignment 2. When a leader adopts a supportive leadership style, he/she shows concern for the needs of his/her team members and attempts to build their confidence. Abby was tasked with writing the positioning statement for this assignment. However, Caitlin recognized that Abby did not have the formal authority to decide what our positioning statement should be and lacked the perceived ability to complete the assignment. Therefore, Caitlin thought it would be best to work closely with Abby, helping her decide the positioning statement and also encouraging her along the way.

Caitlin's supportive leadership style built Abby’s confidence and allowed Abby to write an excellent positioning statement, which led to the satisfactory grade of 14/15 on Marketing 2. Furthermore, the strong positioning statement that Abby created with Caitlin’s support created a clear and unified understanding of the core of our marketing strategy amongst the team, allowing for a stronger overall Final Marketing Plan.
