Improved Essays
I have been blessed to live in a supportive environment that has allowed me to explore, stretch, and push, my talents and learning. This has made me a stronger person and given me the ability to express my curious nature and investigate the world around me.
I have two siblings, an older brother and a younger sister. Being a middle child has often put me in a position of “needing to teach myself” if I wanted to learn something new. Fortunately, both my parents and school environment have supported my curious nature. In early middle school, I wanted to make my own video game. To do this I started to learn C++ in my free time. Although I did not receive any formal training, my parents did give me a computer of my own so I was able to teach

In my life it is not necessarily experiences that have shaped who I am, but instead the people whom I have met during those experiences along the way. When I was younger I played soccer frequently and joined a local team that was coached by a man named Joe Di Lillo. At the time I did not know the importance he would hold in my life or how having known him in his last years of life would change me, yet looking back I find that so much of my self determination is rooted in both his life experiences and the knowledge he handed down to me. Joe was Bon in 1933 in he city of Roman, thirty miles from Naples. Born into a poor family Mr. Di Lillo did not have the opportunity to have an education and his family believed it was more important for him…

Honors committee, As long as I can remember I have sought challenges in academics. Until only recently I didn't know why I pushed myself as hard as I have in school, but now I understand it is because I truly love learning. For me, discovering something new or unknown, teaching myself a new skill, or learning more about the world around me is one of the most gratifying things in my life. This is part of why I think I should be admitted into the honors program here at the University of Iowa. As a young child I was insatiably curious, asking my mother questions ad nausea, never satisfied with simple answers.…

The begin of my working career is imminent but, although I consider myself ambitious, there are only a couple of features that I seek in companies and I consider them fundamental. First, I desire to work in an international environment, where I can become a world citizen, travel, learn other languages, meet new cultures and share mine. Second, my company should have a strong focus on people, a willingness to improve its employees’ lives and make a broader positive impact on society.…

Looking over my influences I can safely say that although I was raised in a pretty sheltered world, I lack no knowledge of the outside and have interacted with all kinds of people. My life has been incredibly changed and formed by these people. From my strong Christian family to my best friends and their families to the coaches I had there has always been someone in my life to strengthen my spirit and brighten my day. My family influenced my beliefs and my personality, while my friends and school taught me to be a strong person and be able to defend who I am. Where I grew up says so much about the reason I like the sounds of the outdoors, the smell of fresh air and why it drives me crazy to be in a city for very long.…

I have always know what I should do but now I can look back and label my choices and understand why I made the decisions I did. My statement is this I subscribe the rule of Hard Universalism, the theory of psychological egoism and because we are always selfish I believe utilitarianism represents the base desires of personhood. Everyone believes their desire is for the greater good and the right choice because they are selfish, these theories go hand in hand and dictate many of the actions of people in this world as well as the cravings we strive to rise above.…
