Methods: A randomized, controlled clinical trial was undertaken. Forty children who are anxious and are aged between (8- 10) years, ASA category I, were randomly allocated to receive inhalation sedation in (groupN) or (groupS). The level of anxiety has been evaluated by Venham Anxiety Scale.
Results: The success rate was (85%) in (groupN), and (80%) in (groupS).There was no statistically significant difference between either the success rate or in oxygen saturation, heart rate, or time of recovery between the two techniques of sedation. Both techniques were effective in relieving the children anxiety during dental extraction. No adverse cardiorespiratory effects were recorded in either group.
