Arrow season 5 episode 1 starts of with an electric jolt. Just a recap, Laurel Lance is six feet under, John Diggles is back in the army, Thea Queen is Oliver’s press secretary and Lance sticks to alcohol to cure his mind again. And then the show proceeds to featuring Lonnie Machin, a.k.a Wild Dog, the hockey masked guy with a bomb. But Arrow handles it pretty well by shooting him in the leg. His mayoral term is not going smoothly and he can’t save the city alone and be its mayor at the same time. Thea doesn’t even bother to lend a hand. Like an angel, Felicity answers his needs by telling him to bring Wild Dog in, with Evelyn Sharp and Mr. Ski Goggles, too. This is the start of a fresh team! Which is why Felicity sends Curtis out to get them. Oh, and don’t forget, Curtis, too!

In addition, Lance slips Oliver a folder that contains the names of trustworthy SCPD cops. A good start for Arrow season 5.

Because Tobias Church is the new bad guy in town and after his stunt at the Black Canary ceremony, Oliver needs all the help he can get. But the good thing is - Thea didn’t retire after all! Because she comes in barging in her red costume. The building still ends up exploding, though.

And if flashbacks are your thing, season 4’s Taiana brings Oliver to Russia to kill Kovar - her bad wolf.

Like in the previous seasons, Oliver still battles humanity. He kills of the henchmen to save hostages. He thinks that killing is the solution, according to Screen Rant. He even says that if he showed a little less restraint then Laurel would still be alive. Do you hear the sound of a guilty
