It is left up to assumption what charges he will face, but knowing that he has taking lives with his decision to drink and drive he will be looking at many years in prison. Showing statistics like “Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and about one-third of those are alcohol related” (0:18-0:21) is a strong message to show the students that this accident scene is not the only one, but happens all over the country on a daily basis. Therefore, it is logical to expect this result if they consciously make the decision to drink and…

Text-to-Text relation: I don’t acquire a very solid text- to- text connection to “On the Sidewalk Bleeding”. My reasoning as to why I don’t acquire a solid connection is because the genre of books I regularly read is relatable as not very many of the books I read are from the tragedy category. The text-to-text connection that I did make was when Andy talked about marrying Laura one day, as it brought me back to the “Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. In this novel, the foil of the “Hunger Games”, Peeta was brutally wounded by his allies, to after which he was found by Katniss, the protagonist. Katniss took Peeta into a cave and aided him as best as she could, to which Peeta confessed his love for Katniss and wished he helped Katniss earlier in their village (district).…

When a car is going down a hill and it isn't on "parking mode", unbalanced forces are acted upon the vehicle because the hill causes the vehicle to move. The unbalance force when a car crashes into a building is the wall of that building. That car was moving at a certain speed at a specific direction and the wall caused a halt to the car's movement also causing a possible change to the car's direction. A two-car collision has two unbalanced forces: both cars. The reasoning behind that answer is that both cars are coming from two different directions and both cars abrupt to each other's direction and motion.…

Math is important in law enforcement especially when it comes to car crash reconstruction. Policing agencies use math to determine how fast a vehicle was going before the collision occurred, at times this can be used to determine who was at fault for insurance purpose or for taking criminal action against. A professor named Caples wrote an article that talks about the formulas police officers use to determine the speed of vehicles. The formula is S=√30FD where S is the speed of the vehicle, F is the drag factor and d is the distance of the skid mark. The drag factor is determined by F=f/w where f is the force (a vector) and W is the weight of the vehicle (Caples, 1992).…

As a new driver in Louisiana I've noticed two major things. Number one that car crashes occur often and number two that insurance is extremely and unnecessarily high. The number of car accidents in Louisiana 2015 was a jarring number of 168,407 and 757 of those car accidents being fatal according to LSU's research data. (Dr. Schneider 2015). This seems like a result of major budget cuts to the traffic division of New Orleans police department where there were only 32 officers employed in this division at the time.…
