and I will be discussing communication in the dental field. Communication is how we interact with patients or how we exchange information. Communication is very important in our industry because ,as a dental assistant we always communicate with our patients and coworkers for example, we provide our patients with instructions to keep their teeth healthy. The most common type of communication that we will be mentioning are non-verbal, electronic, and communication during the hiring process. However, there are many more.
Non-verbal is one of the three most important ways to communicate. Non-verbal is the foundation of a successful relationship, being personal or professional. For example non-verbal consist of face expressions , body movement/posture

Electronic communication is an easier method to record patient 's information. Electronic has improved over the years. Back then everything had to be written down or was sent through letter but now we communicate using emails, social media and we also collect data. For example, the article Emerging Culture Norms for Electronic Communication by John Hielie and John Ford 2001 says "Emails provide an easy way to deal with deal with conflict without the discomfort that arises in a face to face conversation" (2001, paragraph 11). It has also helped many patients send information such as phone numbers, questions, and medical information instead of having to drive a long way to provide the information. Also, social media has benefit patients by promotion discounts on social media, fundraisers and also easy access to the time and days that will be open or closed. A dental assistant collects a lot of data such as personal information, birthdate, insurance, medicare record, and the treatment. Many patients come and go so it 's hard to keep track of every single patient, that 's why we collect data from a patient and save it in a computerized folder with their name on …show more content…
During the hiring process make sure to be on time and have a smile on you face because you want to make a good first impression. When answering questions make sure to be honest and clear and relevant to the topic. For example, they might ask about your skills as a dental assistant. Provide them with examples, for instants your skills can be Dentrix, tray setup, or charting history. Make sure you don 't make up things . Brian Ayala has been working as a dental assistant for two years at Western dental he says "Communication during the hiring process should be direct and clear answering all questions being asked with confidence and clarity." Don 't forget to be confident because it shows the person that is interviewing you that you know what you are talking about and that you deserve the job. Brian Ayala also agrees he says" Explain yourself to the fullest extent of your capability and don 't second guess or doubt yourself." Make sure to wear a professional outfit it doesn 't have to be very expensive it can be black dress pants and a nice
