In my previous academic year, I studied joint awards in Law and Business. I had a major dilemma when choosing whether to major in Law or Business. I used to be extremely worried when I come to think about my academic degree options, as I had no idea what to go for.
To solve this issue, I made use of UWE Careers Services and Infohub by setting up various meetings with both Law and Business Programme Leaders, Student Advisors and Leader of International Partnerships in UWE to understand the various modules and opportunities that would be offered to me if I were to take up the following course. Also, I consulted my family members and friends for advices, as they have more experience than me in the working field. After a thorough consideration of all aspects, I decided to apply for a two-week work experience in a law firm in Malaysia during summer

I attended Society Development Meeting held by SU Opportunities team to enquire further assistance. During my term of being a Welfare and Communications Officer, I have learnt to emphatise with people’s feelings and surroundings. The committee members have successfully organised many events as by ‘sharing the same goal, setting deadlines and effective communication’; elements of team success. Moreover, I applied to be a student ambassador in UWE Bristol and have worked in a few Open Days, which enabled me to work hand in hand with other student ambassadors as well as, improving my adaptability skills in talking to a diverse collection of people regarding to their needs accordingly. Furthermore, I have involved myself in a few volunteering schemes when possible, such as Goodgym Bristol and Edge

During this week’s assignment I found the interview of Dr. Allen Frances was very interesting. Being in the Human Services program here at SCC and wanting to become a social worker I have been told that I need to be familiar with the DSM-5. I definitely agree with him that normality is difficult to define and it has become a cultural concept rather than a medical concept. Dr. Allen Frances states that our society is already immersed in pill popping which I didn’t find surprising at all. My opinion and viewpoint towards this is I feel like sometimes people get diagnosed incorrectly but any easy solution to make someone feel better is by taking medications and switching them up if some aren’t working.…
