Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in a person one or both lungs. These abnormal cells do not grow into healthy tissue and do not carry out the functions of normal lung cells (What Is Lung Cancer, 2016). As lung cancer grow, the abnormal cells can form tumors and interfere with the functioning of the lungs, which provides oxygen to the body through the blood, (What Is Lung Cancer, 2016). A study shows that small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer are the two main types of lung cancers, (Types and Staging of Lung Cancer, 2016). Small cell lung cancer is a disease in which malignant (Cancer) cells form in the tissue of the lung”, (General Information About Small Cell Lung Cancer, 2016). Smoking tobacco products are the major cause of small lung cancer. Coughing, shortness of breath, and chest pain are the signs of lung cancer (General Information About Small Cell Lung Cancer, 2016). Non-small cell lung cancer is known to be the most common type of cancer. It generally grows and spread more slowly than small lung cancer, (Chen, Marrow, Zieve, Ogilvie, & A.D.A.M. Editorial team). A study has proven that regular cigarettes, marijuana, and the exposure to high level of air pollution, and consuming water that has a high level of arsenic may increase the risk of non-small cell lung cancer (Chen, Marrow, Zieve, Ogilvie, & A.D.A.M. Editorial team).
