The maintenance of health depends on the promotion of wellness as to combating of disease. Studying and practicing medicine over the years, I learned the absolute need for, and intrinsic rewards of broadening my perspective on health-related issues affecting the community. Treating individual patients in clinical practice alone cannot apprehend the larger goal. I have a profound interest in the well-being of children, women, family planning and preconception care. With my recent relocation to USA, the challenge of a new beginning gives me the opportunity of health education in the MPH program. The program aligns with my lifelong commitment and career goals. The notion of public health was seeded in me while volunteering for National Service Scheme (NSS) over the years of my undergraduate course. The first camp I attended was on the situation of substance abuse and awareness of HIV/AIDS in rural communities under the guidance of Dr. A. R. Mhetre M.D.(Hom.) held in Ambegar village, Maharashtra. My team and I collected data for the study through comprehensive surveys in each household, reports of the village level workers and records of local administration were also used.

I continued my association with NSS in consecutive years and worked as a physician for free health checkup camps and cultural head to promote awareness.
