attracted most attentions from researchers in Interlanguage pragmatics (ILP). Previous studies focus on the perception (Garcia, 2004) and the production (Pinto, 2005) of requests from L2 learners with different language levels. Burgeoning interests in interlanguage pragmatic development in recent years have resulted in the investigation of the relationship between second language proficiency and the sequence organization when making requests (Al-Gahtani & Roever, 2011). However, the participants of the related studies are mostly English L2 learners with Arabic background and Arabic L2 learners with English background. There is little research focusing on the Chinese EFL learners’ performance. This cross-sectional research will take the CA-for-ILP …show more content…

Unlike the lower-intermediate level-ers, this L2 more proficient participant made a pre-announcement move in line 3-6 to notify the theme of the upcoming conversation after the summon in line 1. In line 8, 9 and 11, in order to give evidence of the cause of the next request, she offered another pre-announcement in line 12 and 13. The higher level participants produced reasonably more pre-expansion compared to lower level participants.
The pattern of the pre-expansion production with different L2 proficiency level profoundly conside with the outcome of Al-Gahtani and Roever (2013) that the higher L2 proficiency level expanded the length, content, and the complication of the pre-expansions.

When children start to understand English they are able to follow one-step request that are given to them. For example, when the teacher walks with the little girl and tells her, “is that yours can you please clean it up,” and only point to the trash on the table she is demonstrating a request that has a contextual cue, which helps the child see her focus and she listens and follows through with the request by graving her trash and dumping it in the trash can. At this stage in development ELL children are able to understand request and direction in English with the support of contextual cue or without, they can accomplish a one-step task on their own demonstrating that they are developing their new language skills by being able to establish…

Role of input : All theories and studies regarding second language acquisition go back to the nature of input and how when an L2 learner uses the input in interactions the learner will produce language and forms (output) directed by the feedback. Krashen believes that the input hypothesis is the answer to how the natural order hypothesis takes place and how an L2 learner moves from one stage to the next in SLA. (Gass, 1997). One of the key issues of SLA is the role of the input hypothesis and the role it plays in the L2 process. Furthermore L2 acquisition can only happen with enough L2 input.…
