A Stolen Life Summary

The book “A Stolen Life” is about Jaycee Dugard, who is also the author. The book took place on June 10, 1991 when Jaycee was abducted and ended on August 26, 2009 when she was rescued during a meeting Philip had with his parole officer, and was reunited with her family. The book is a biography and was written only to tell her story. Jaycee Dugard was eleven when she was abducted by Philip Garrido and Nancy Garrido while walking out to the bus stop. Philip and Nancy had locked Jaycee up at their house for eighteen-years. During those eight-teen years Jaycee was sexually assaulted, raped, and lived as a prisoner in their home. Jaycee had gotten pregnant by Philip twice and had two daughters. Jaycee lived at her home in South Lake Tahoe, California. She lived with her mom, step sister and her step dad. Jaycee loved her mom and step sister dearly, but didn’t always get along with her step dad, Carl. Carl had always been tough on Jaycee ever since he had gotten together with her mom. Carl was tired of Jaycee being driven to school and decided to have her walk up the hill and catch the bus at the bus stop. I liked the book because it was about a true story. I also liked it because Jaycee Dugard was brave enough to share her story even though Philip Garrido said not to, which was inspiring. My favorite part of the book was the beginning when Jaycee told about her family and described things her mom had done with her like, watching the moon at night. My least favorite part of the book was when Jaycee was abducted and Philip told Jaycee lies. One example was when Philip told Jaycee he was only one that loved her and if she left, she would have nowhere else to go with her children. I enjoyed the book and thought it was interesting and inspiring, I would recommend
