Being Dedicated To Me

Being dedicated to something means never giving up no matter how challenging it may become. Before becoming a doctor one must take a Hippocratic Oath to do whatever it takes to save the life of their patients. My dad is a physician and one of the most dedicated people I know. As a child he was not blessed with an easy life and nothing was handed to him. He worked for every single thing he had. He had no financial support from his parents, but still managed to put himself through college and eventually earned a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University. He then applied to medical school and was accepted. He and his family moved so he could attend four years of medical school in Oklahoma City and three years of residency in Tulsa. He now has a daily routine of waking up at five o’clock in the morning to complete all of his charts from the previous day, going to work at seven thirty and then working until seven o’clock at night, sometimes even later. Being dedicated is not an easy assignment. It is actually a lot of work and time that you don’t have, but somehow you manage to make it work. Dedication will drain the life out of you some days, but you go home knowing you did it to help someone, and that is all that really matters in the end. The amount of dedication doctors put into their work causes an amazing amount of stress. It has begun to raise some awareness around the association. “The prevalence of stress among the international doctors was 54%. The highest of levels was reported for “Anxiety and Insomnia” and the lowest level was reported for “Severe Depression.” (Hussein 859-862). If a person is willing to put themselves through this kind of trouble to help someone they are truly dedicated to whatever they are working
