The setting of the stories A Sound of Thunder, by Ray Bradbury and Being Prey, by Val Plumwood, share a lot of resemblances, as well as differences. One example of how the settings are alike is that both of the main characters take place in a setting that is dangerous. In A Sound of Thunder, the setting took place in the past, where the characters had time traveled. They traveled to a time where dinosaurs were still present in the world. In Being Prey, the setting takes place in a swamp in the jungle. The main character, Plumwood, was in a canoe. This takes place in present time, which is one of the differences between the stories. In A Sound of Thunder, the main character was Eckels. In Being Prey, the main character was Plumwood. An example of a way that Eckels and Plumwood are alike is that they both don’t listen to directions. They both put themselves in a hazardous environment because they don’t do what they are told to do. Another resemblance between the stories is that because of the fact that a main character in each story didn’t do what they were told, they almost died. One example of a dissimilarity between the characters is that Eckles was male, and Plumwood was female. Another dissimilarity is that they each almost died, but in dissimilar ways. Both Eckles and Plumwood share similarities and
