In the 21st century, violence has become a major threat to the education system. Violence in general is become a more popular way to express anger and resentment, and it has been publicized that violence is the answer, especially within the area of shows and cartoons meant for children. Since 2013, there have been more than 188 school shootings, nationwide (school shooting). The problem with violence does not lie within the students of schools, but it rests with the gun laws of America. People no longer care about the possible outcomes that owning a gun can have, including ending lives. It has gotten to the point where the constant coverage of guns by the media and by classic television is demeaning and dehumanizing people, and they no longer really accept the potential that guns have. People are losing their humanity, their empathy, their sympathy, and control, and it is only going to cause future problems if the gun epidemic continues. Children, instead of playing at parks, are stuck indoors all day playing war games that involve the shooting and killing of people, who all return back to life one way or another. Having a safe campus is just the first step in having a safe school. Federal funding would provide schools the opportunity to protect themselves, and support themselves financially. Affording new gates, new security cameras, and the ability to have more people to walk around campus would basically guarantee that everything would be seen at all times, which would prevent future attacks. A school’s ability to support itself, financially and physically, plays a very important rule in securing not only the health and safety of its students, but the security of school in itself. A counterargument to federal funding would most likely be the fact that it could be spent elsewhere, but the future of the students, which are the future doctors, lawyers, and politicians of America relies on the federal government considering the education of its students rather than the happiness of its
