A single event can change your perspective for the rest of your life. This happened to me on New Year's Day in 2012, when my father moved out of the house, leaving us alone. He and my mother were incompatible, resulting in his desertion. I suffered the pain of his absence at the tender age of twelve. Although I still see him frequently, my father moving out shook me to my core. The stability of our financial situation worsened and healthy food seemed to become scarce. Where before I would eat cucumbers, grapes, and strawberries; my diet had to change, and now consists of potato chips and crackers. Complaining is second nature to my mother; I never believed her when she lamented the difficulty of paying the bills by herself, or finding a way
