A Simple Story of My Past The day I could have died could easily be considered as one of the most important events of my life. It permanently changed my view of the school system and how politics have infiltrated it. As respect for it plummeted; respect for my Mom soared. From it I have learned the importance of facades, confidence, and connections in maneuvering bureaucracies at an early age. The Middle School that I attended was positioned atop the hill in the beach town of Laguna Beach. Since I did not live far away, I would walk down the hill everyday afterschool instead of alternative transportation. Eventually, the walk became boring due to the constant cars trundling their way up and down the hill alongside the walkers. Due to these circumstances, I sought out an alternative path down the hill that I could take. It did not take me long to discover a winding path that also cut down the hill and led to my destination as well. Now, this path was not for the faint of heart. Most would consider it to be dangerous and overly steep. With far too many areas you could fall off it and a massive put you had to jump at the bottom, it was indeed dangerous. However, since I had hiked and gone bouldering for years, I was confident in my ability to maneuver the trail safely. I soon adopted this trail as my means of getting home …show more content…
Many of those families were shocked at what had happened and disappointed with the school system and their lack of action. My Mom then informed the school that we were prepared to take legal action against them and insisted on meeting with the Principal and other administrators. Finally, the school had the leader transferred to a correctional school and began the process of admitting and addressing the bullying issues in the district. After this, we dropped our case since we had no desire to be tied up in a long legal case with the district for
