In no uncertainty, the cost of expansion came with a huge price tag which was secondary to supply and demand. In an economic sense, whenever there is scarcity for a product, the price will increase. For what went on during was all about money. As stated by one of my classmate, “there are acres and acres of land and little people to the farming. Therefore, landowners had to find someone to do the work because they had no machinery back then. But, from what I was told by my grandparents, my father and reading History, the English were very prejudice of all races. As we discuss this topic, they continue to believe that they are the whitest race on the planet earth. One thing I knew is that, I had never seen a “White …show more content…
For example, here in America, the blonde hair and blue eyes people would get first preference over the red or black hair with brown eyes beige individual. Looking at the price tag for expansion and indentured servants remained me of “the barter system” with the exception of cruelty, such as lashing naked and beheaded does not justify morality. If any of us were being treated unfairly, or with uttermost disrespect would be brushed under the rug that easily. If I was a slaves in those day, I am sure I would be hanged because I am an individual who tell it like it is. According to (Keene, Cornell & O’Donnell, 2013, p. 78) they stated that “typically their captors forced the slaves to remain in shackles during the voyage…meager rations and unsanitary conditions, a situation that led those who preferred “death to such a life of misery” to drown themselves. Mortality rates during the middle passage exceeded 10 percent.” One thing that is clear, most race is still angry but they kept it on the inside. However, the black race still carries that bitterness in their hearts. How so? I interviewed many of them. What I also learn as I read some of the responses on this topic and in our textbook on how they were belittled, abused and as of today, they are still bitter. In retrospect, there is a simple solution, the people who are prejudice and racist need to step up to the plate and apologized for the wrongs that was committed by their forefathers. The behaviors of the way the slaves were treated clearly illustrate or justified misbehavior; no wonder the broke equipment and pretend that they were ill. If you truly knew the black race, especially the men, they do not like when someone talked to them in a disrespected manner; they hate authority second to what they were told by their grand-parents during slavery. In fact, the younger black generation in England is now committing certain kind of crime which they called
