Freddy was a retired athlete who played football. He was married to Raven Boris. Their relationship was not the best. They always got in fights and if you could listen closely you could hear them from a half a mile away, but they always loved each other either way but that would change. One day they were arguing and six gunshots fired. Frederick Matthews had shot his wife six times, making bloody spew out. The police came and found no evidence that Freddy killed her or the body. Freddy buried her body in the rotten grass beside the lake. One reason why they got in fights was because Frederick was very cocky. His cockiness would come back to get him one day.

Frederick Douglass was an American slave boy in Maryland. He was born sometime in 1818, though the date is not exactly known. Many slave-owners thought it best to keep information on a slave’s birth from them, almost so the slaves would think that they, themselves, weren't quite human. Life for Frederick was difficult, to put it lightly. He began life with his mother until she was sent away.…

This piece shared a part of Douglass’ life while revealing the harsh realities of slavery. Douglass’ slave narrative is bit different from the millions of others’ slave encounters. Others may have ended with a harsh death from punishment or a life full of slavery with a natural death. I found your thread to be very concise and straightforward, and it clearly identifies the dilemma facing Frederick. For starters, it is very sad and unfortunate that Frederick’s trusted professors were not really trustworthy, and that they did not hesitate to take advantage of him for worldly gains…money. I share your opinion that Frederick should approach the dilemma with alternative dispute resolution as a first step in opening the lines of communication between the parties so that perhaps a mutually agreeable settlement agreement could be reached to settle the matter. As a current student here at Liberty University, it never occurred to me that such a situation could even be possible; however, this mindset only exposes my naïveté regarding…

Freedom is a sense or feeling when you decide or do something without restriction, it would not be being enslaved or imprisoned. We might think that freedom is innately and probably neglect the importance in our life. However, among the reading we read in this semester, they teach me that some people fight for the freedom and I should treasure the thing we have at this moment. I am most interested in “Narrative of The Life” written by Frederick Douglass and “From A Room of One’s Own” written by Virginia Woolf. Both influence me to have a deeper understanding of slaves in America and the women’s status in the past.…

In The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, escaped slave Frederick Douglass recounts his experiences in bondage and his understanding of the institution of slavery. In one anecdote, Douglass discusses the free time granted to slaves by masters during Christmas and New Years. He explains that many masters encouraged slaves to spend this time on drunken antics.. Douglass asserts that, while professedly a token of goodwill, the off-time given to slaves during the winter holiday was actually used to reinforce slave obedience. The holiday, he posits, was a vessel through which slave masters could deliver a perverted image of freedom and expose slaves as a class that enjoyed crass entertainment and could easily revert…
