First let 's start with my name, I 'm Samantha Curley my family calls me Sam. I am 16 years young. I live in a small town Lakewood. I don 't really have any friends I 'm pretty much the big loser/loner of the school. Oh yeah, I forgot to add on one more miserable thing to my life, I suck at school and I have bad grades not like failing, but like C 's and D 's, and I suck at all sports. Everyone has a talent like singing, dancing, or sports, but for me I do magic tricks. I can 't remember one day where I haven 't done any magic tricks. I practice everyday so I can prepare for my biggest dream ever! Big Talented Stars (BTS). I 've signed up two times now in the past years and today right now will be my third time, they always say three times a charm, I just hope it 's a lucky charm. Summer just got over and school started, so it 's the same thing every day …show more content…
What did I say, a small town girl would never make it to a show like that. My chances were slim and so were the chances of me and my parents getting along, I kinda just bombed my Math, Science, and Geography test. With my luck I got at least D- or higher, but I’m still getting grounded. I hate school I honestly don 't know why I go, I don 't fit in and I fail at everything. My mom made me sign up for basketball a few weeks ago and I start practice today after school. I 'm probably not going to go though. I had to go to practice anyway, I got home and I guess my mom knew I wasn 't going to go so she was waiting for me and brought me back to school for practice. She dropped me off and didn 't say a word. I was wondering why she didn 't say anything. I texted her when she left to say sorry. The text said she read it, but no response. I thought maybe it was because she found out my test grades and was too disappointed to talk to

Despite being a woman in the 1930s, Curley’s wife possessed power over others on the ranch, primarily because her husband was the boss’s son. Although the men often thought that she was ineffectual, she ascertained to quickly prove them wrong. For example, when talking to Crooks she was very straightforward with her authority: “Well you keep your place then, ni**er. I could get you strung up on a tree so fast it ain’t even funny”(81). Even though she would not be the one to actually pursue that threat, she knew how to use her words to get somebody else to.…

like many of the characters in the novel, Curley's Wife likewise has a dream. Her dream is to be "in the movies." Many ladies amid the 1930's had a comparable dream like this as they contemplated the warmth that would take after, albeit even in Steinbeck's cruel world it is clarified dreams are just dreams and the break of trust is unmistakably unavoidable even in a sensitive individual, for example, Curley's Wife. On the whole, Curley's Wife is essential all through the novel as she expands the extent of a significant number of the key occasions and subjects which happen. Steinbeck utilizes her as a vehicle at an ideal opportunity to depict the ladies amid the 1930's.…

In the novella of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck paints a depressing, but realistic portrait of America in the 1930s. He reveals what it was truly like to be a woman in that time period. Women back then were treated as nothing more than the property of men, they were possessions, they were objects. They were not their own person and the only identity that they had was that of their husband or their father. The role of a housewife was forced onto women, so much so that the only thing they could aspire to be was a stay at home mother.…
