ABSTRACT Effervescent tablet generally contains in addition to active ingredients, mixture of acids/acid salts (Citric, Tartaric, Malic acid or any other suitable acid or acid anhydride) and carbonate and hydrogen carbonates (Sodium, Potassium or any other suitable alkali metal carbonate or hydrogen carbonate) which release carbon dioxide when mixed with water. Occasionally, active ingredient itself could act as the acid or alkali metal compound necessary for effervescent reaction. Effervescent tablets are uncoated tablets that generally contain acid substances and carbonates or bicarbonates and which react rapidly in the presence of water by releasing carbon dioxide. Effervescent tablets are designed to produce a

All the ingredients were accurately weighed and passed through sieves No 44# and in order to mixed the ingredients properly. Drug and different concentration of Sodium bicarbonate, Citric acid, Talc and Magnesium stearate, Pottasium carbonate, Manitol, sorbitol, Sweetner (Saccharine) Polymer were blend in mortar followed by the addition of Polyvinyl pyrolidone (PVP), After thoroughly mixing the ingredients tablets were compressed in rotary punching (using 10 mm flat punch) machine. Three formulations were prepared and coded them from F-1 to F-3 and evaluated for Pre-Compression parameters, Post-Compression [1, 22, 24, 25,

When the tablet is swallowed, the overcoat of the drug will dissolve quickly and the initial release can increase the drug concentration rapidly and it is similar to the stranded release formulation. Then, the beneath layer of drug is a coat with a semi-permeable membrane which can absorb water by osmosis and some of the drugs are a polymer-based coat with a hole on one side or a porous membrane. In the interior of the tablet, the compartment will dissolve from low concentration to high concentration. Therefore, the initial release from the outer coat causes a rapid rise in the plasma concentration which ensures the quick onset of action occurred. The interior part keep releasing by the concentration, therefore, it makes the plasma drug concentration stable and stays between the minimum effective concentration (MEC) and toxic concentration (MTC).…

The physiochemical properties of this combination tablets were assessed through the evaluation of uniformity of tablet weight, thickness test, hardness test, friability test, disintegration test, dissolution test and potency test according to the standard method. They have generally two type of test. First compendial test and another one in non compendial test. Compendial tests are test methods that are described in the pharmacopoeias like United States Pharmacopeia (USP), British Pharmacopoeia (BP) etc. They are also known as official tests.…

Rather, the Quick-Dis™ drug delivery system is a thin film that alleviates the fear of swallowing and the risk of choking commonly associated with a conventional tablet. This fast-dissolving action is primarily due to the large surface area of the film, which wets quickly when exposed to the moist oral environment. These additional, superior benefits allow patients to take their medication anytime and anyplace under all circumstances. The Quick-Dis™ drug delivery system offers a giant leap forward in drug administration by providing a new and easy way of taking medication. Many fast-dissolving tablets are soft, friable or brittle (such as the lyophilized dosage forms) and often require specialized and expensive packaging and processing.…

Next, the weight of the crushed Gelusil tablet was recorded (1.28 grams). A 150 mL beaker was filled with hydrochloric acid, which had a concentration of 0.15M. The crushed Gelusil tablet was poured in a 100 mL volumetric flask by using a piece of filter paper as a funnel. Subsequently, hydrochloric acid was added into the 100 mL volumetric flask as well. After combining the Gelusil tablet and hydrochloric acid, the volumetric flask was shaken (with a thumb covering the top) to ensure…

1.4 Effect of Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC)Type Formula F12 was utilized to study the effect of changing the type of MCC(Avecil PH-101 ) as a carrier material instead of (Avecil PH-102) in F8 on the dissolution behavior of the prepared Zolmitriptan liquisolid ODTs. Although the DT of formula F12 (79 sec.) was greater than F8 (48 sec.) as in Table(18),the dissolution behavior of the formula F12 was faster than F8 as in Table (18) and Figure (48), this difference was non significant(p>0.05) and resulted from the sensitivity of the F8 to the lubricant magnesium stearate to greater extent more than F12 .The sensitivity of the MCC to the lubricant depends on the particle size ,where F8 contains Avecil PH-102 with mean particle size of…

The bitterness score of the original product was 2. The taste was slightly bitter till 300 seconds but it becomes moderately bitter (level 3) after 300 seconds. However, after taste masking the drug with β-cyclodextrin and aspartame, no bitter taste was observed. Stability studies After subjecting the formulation F9 for stability study, from the data, (Table 4) the formulation was found to be stable under the conditions mentioned before, since there was no significant change (p< 0.05) in physical form of tablets, changes in drug content, in vitro disintegration time and in vitro dissolution after six months.…

There are currently two systems of matrix delivery system including hydrophobic matrix tablets (Abdel-Rahman, Mahrous and El-Badry, 2009) which release drug after the tablet has been dissolved by a solvent and hydrophilic matrix tablets (Asija and Bansal, 2013) which are dependent upon the swelling of the outer layer of the tablet to allow drug to diffuse out (Kim, 1995). Both of these systems consist of drug inside a matrix tablet which will be released over a prolonged amount of time. Hydrophobic polymers are widely accepted for use as they offer many advantages such as exhibiting superior stability at different pH’s (Tiwari et al., 2003). But in this project hydrophilic tablets are going to be used to test the effect of different variables on drug…

The concentration range of independent variables under study was shown in Table 1 and Table 2 along with their low, medium, and high levels, which were selected based on the results from preliminary experimentation [16]. Sixteen formulations were prepared according to the experimental design shown in Table 3.Accurately weighed quantities of drug, soya lecithin, and edge activators (surfactant) in various ratios as listed in Table 3 was dissolved in chloroform: methanol (2:1) in 250 ml round bottom flasks. The solvent mixture was evaporated at optimized temperature under reduced pressure at 80 rpm using rotary vacuum film evaporator (Heidolph loborata 4011 digital, Switzerland). After complete evaporation of the solvent, the flask was kept under vacuum oven for 24 h to allow complete removal of the residual solvent. The obtained thin lipid film was hydrated at room temperature with 10 ml of aqueous phase (ethanol 7%v/v) as the hydrating medium at 60 rpm using rotary vacuum film evaporator to obtain a homogenous suspension of KTFs(ketoconazole loaded transfersomes)…
