a. The principle of operation of ETCS system level 1.
European Train Control System (ETCS) is a signalling system , control & train protection system designed to replaced various safety systems that are not compatible, which one currently used in railways in Europe especially in high-speed railways.
For example ETCS level 1 , the driver is supported by lineside signalling equipment and DMI (Driver Machine Interface) information.
Hardware ETCS onboard will calculate the distance from the position of the train at this time to the end position of the Movement Authority (MA) , taking care not to exceed the maximum speed limit on the track , and controlling by lowering the speed of the train to prevent the train exceeds the limits of Movement Authority (MA) which are given.
The setting operation is performed through the action of the interlocking equipment and lineside signalling equipment and LEU (Lineside Electronic Unit) along with the Eurobalise group in generating and transmitting Movement Authority to train.
