Salesforce is a company that helps a vast array of companies understand their customers and ways to optimize their business strategies. The value that Salesforce creates for its customers, a better way to operate so that they may perform to standards that suit the needs of their customers alternatively providing a better experience as a final product. Salesforce’s annual revenue report as of August 31, 2016, was at $2.04 Billion, which was up a whole 25% year-over-year (Investor Relations 2016). As the company has expanded over the years, it has grown worldwide and has acquired Exact target as well which has helped to expand their market and strengthen their business with greater experience and refined software. Marc Benioff is the current chairman and CEO of Salesforce, ever since he founded the company back in 1999. His background has always been in the technology industry as he’s built this massive software company. Benioff’s is now renowned as “a pioneer of cloud computing”, and he has built the company into a “fortune 500 company making it the top ten software company in the world” (Board of Directors 2016). He is often referred to as a visionary CEO for having taken such a “revolutionary approach” within his software company leading him to receive “The economist’s innovation Award” ranking him very highly on the Forbes chart and in fortune 500 (Board of Directors 2016). In an attempt to spark social activism, Benioff, as well as many other renowned CEOs, are stepping up on social issues in order to make a difference in the world and change the way that events affect our society. Back in 2013 when Salesforce and decided it wanted to acquire Exact Target, a marketing software company, that was headquartered here in Indianapolis. This acquisition was important to Salesforce because it helped allow them to see different ways of operation, and gain a larger customer base especially those of the major companies such as Coca-Cola, Nike, and GAP who ran off Exact Target (Upbin 2013) This Acquisition would decrease competition by one company by expanding their own. In Indianapolis, Salesforce plans to employ an even greater amount of the population to help both the population of Indianapolis as well as increase their capacity for their ever-expanding company. They planned to hire a great number of new employees here in Indianapolis alone which surely will increase Indianapolis’ economy a positive way creating many more jobs.
