Postpartum blues- this is also known as baby blues. Baby blues tend to happen within the first two or three says after the delivery process. This process can last up to two weeks. This is a normal part of early motherhood. According to American pregnancy baby blues can happen to 70- 80% of new mothers. They can experience negative feeling of their self of the child or have mood swings. Some symptoms that mother should know about are mood swings, anxiety, sadness, irritability, feeling overwhelmed, crying, reduced concentration, appetite problems and trouble sleeping. • She is a young mother. She has never given birth to another child so she does not know what to expect. She could be scared, nervous, excited and have anxiety over the situation.
• She does not have any family around her to help and support her. She does not have a support system that is very important for a new mother to have. Since her family is in Russia she is not able to see them. It could be possible that she is not able to communicate with her family so she is not able to ask her mother or father for hot. She does not have any family that would come and watch the baby if she just needs a break.
• After giving birth her husband had to leave for work. One week after the baby was born her husband had to leave to go oversee a project that is happening in Iraq. Will be not even be in the area or state to come home if something happened for if she really needed help. She is alone with a new baby and does not have any help. She does have a maid that comes and helps clean the house but she is the one that had to take care of the infant 24-7. She is not able to get a break that she could get if her husband was
