A Short Biopsychosocial Interview

I have a close friend named Lisa that I have known for several years. We met at a conference for laboratory technologists in Dallas. As we spoke that day, we realized that we lived in the same neighborhood and worked as laboratory technologists in different hospitals. Lisa is married has two young children. Even though she spends a lot of time at work, she loves to spend as much time with her family as well. We often visit each other and I could see that she is very close to her family. Lisa works long hours and often is often troubled by the rigors of having a family and a career. We have spoken to each other often about life’s struggles. We often speak about God and his role in our lives. I know that Lisa is a Christian, however she never …show more content…
I told Lisa that attending church with someone who is familiar with it would help in keeping her enthusiasm for church. I know from early experience that I felt the same way until I started to have a good friend of mine attend with me. She was able to explain the sermons that helped me to better understand what was being said and that peaked my interest. Another suggestion that I offered Lisa was to experiment with different churches. I explained to her that whether we are Roman Catholics, Baptists or Christians, we all follow the teachings of the bible and God. I told her about how different denominations preached in different ways. I let Lisa know that I was a Roman Catholic and had attended the Roman Catholic Church for most of my life. I explained to her how I also felt bored until I attended a mass in a Christian Church. It was different and I enjoyed it. I told her that she just needed to find the right church to attend. Another piece of advice I gave Lisa was to apply the teachings of the bible to her own personal life. I explained to Lisa that the bible is a guide to life and that its teachings should be applied to our lives. I told her about the many times when I was going through some issue in life and that issue would be the topic of a sermon. Finally, I told Lisa that she should make it a family day when attending church. I expressed to her the importance of including her family and then spending the rest of the day together after …show more content…
I told Lisa that I knew how she felt but that not all priests or pastors are bad. I said to her that the majority of priests are good decent individuals but that unfortunately the media always reports the misgivings of the church without giving it credit for all the good that it does. I explained to her how that could cause a good deal of doubt in the church. I also told Lisa that she would be spending a majority of her time in church without much personal interaction with the priest or pastor. I explained to her that I very rarely spoke to my pastor. That led me to further inform Lisa that going to church was about her relationship with God. Just like trying to find the right church, I emphasized to Lisa how her focus should be on the teachings of the bible instead of who might be presenting it. Finally, I told her to keep an open mind about the church. I advised her that the most important part of Christianity is faith and how my faith led me to learn about the

Biopsychosocial Assessment Critique Capus P. Barnett Valdosta State University In my endeavors to learn how to efficiently interview an older adult, I interviewed a woman named “Teresa Craig” that is sixty-five years old. Interviewing Ms. Craig was a slightly different experience from other interviews I have conducted over the years. It was the first time I interview someone that could be considered “elderly”. I gave me a new perspective on how someone older me thinks and processes what could be considered personal questions.…

From personal experiences I have had a counselor who could not separate the church from the counseling. She would bring in religious aspects the few times I went to her, and it was not something I brought up myself. Yes, I chose to go to such a place, however I did not know that religion was going to be the main theme of the sessions with this particular counselor. That experience has colored my view of counseling in religious aspects in such a way that I struggle with believing that counselors can keep their personal values of religion out of the session. Dwight could also struggle with the clients who come from outside of the congregation in keeping his personal values out of the session.…

In The Martyrdom of Saints Perpetua and Felicity, the narrator says that the purpose of these stories is to understand how the early Christians viewed the martyrs and the reward that they would receive in the afterlife (1). The narrator believes that we must publish stories like these to give honor to God. These examples illuminate God’s unchanging grace towards humanity and shows that what God promises will be fulfilled. It strengthens man’s faith to see these examples. If we see that these people went through all these trials for their faith, we may have the strength to face the minor trials we encounter.…

As a conceptual approach to health care, the biopsychosocial model aims to provide an understanding for how psychological and social factors continually interact with biological influences in disease and illness. Developed by Dr. George Engel, the biopsychosocial model places value of lifestyle and health related behaviours as influences in health and in disease. In comparison to the earlier Biomedical Model, which focused purely on biological factors, Engel believed psychological and social factors had contributions to the cause, prevention and treatment of disease (Lakhan, 2006). In an effort to combine biological, psychological and social factors, the biopsychosocial model can be utilized to create a more comprehensive picture of disease…

Introduction I originally was going to interview a girl from Singapore for this paper, but I had to go back home and I was not able to talk with her after all. So while I was back in my home town I interviewed a girl I went to school with, and for the sake of the paper I am going to refer to her as Sally. Before interviewing Sally I knew how our physical appearances differed, but I didn’t realize how culturally different we were. Understanding Others Sally is different from me in number of ways, but some of our differences are she is a mother, she refers to herself as a Christian, she still lives in the town she grew up in, and she has a job.…

    A. This form does cover the majority of a client’s life. The one question that seems to be missing is a question about what brought them in today, and why are they choosing to deal with it now. As we have learned, motivation is an important factor that needs to be both considered and addressed (Hepworth, Rooney, Rooney, & Strom-Gottfried, 2016). The form did ask what they wanted to get out of their therapy session, but that is half of the needed information. Knowing all of this information allows the clinician a better understanding of the client.…

I would have to determine the reasons for Wanda hesitation. Does she believe that starting a business with a non believe goes against biblical teaching, or is she worry that a non-believer ethics and values may be so different from her own that she is at risk for potential liabilities partnering with a non-believer. If she is concern that a partnership with a non-believer goes against biblical teaching in general, I would advised her of the following.…

I have not been devout in my faith because of so many other things that go on in my life that I think to affect me more and would be a better use of my time. The Church community seems to want to force me into believing in God, and what God wants me to do with my life. Craig grows up with his faith being forced into his daily life and people expecting him to embrace it and expand on it, but he does not and cannot because of many factors in his life that he finds more important and more enjoyable. So that not only can the brother/Sister to others who may be going do the same thing but don’t feel as comfortable speaking about it. I know that if I decide to return to her church I must enter with all ears and eyes open, to better comprehend everything during service. I also agree that the Bible is the word of God and feel that in ordinary to follow God’s path, I not only need to read from the Bible directly but as well as attend church…
