The Sermon Of The Bible

The sermon was about two hours long and focused on their belief that unless one believed in the messaged of the founder Felix Manalo, reconciliation with God was impossible. I gathered that the INC is not a believer in sola fide, but strictly observes sola scriptura. They are resolute that only their church has the correct translation of the scriptures of the Bible, and I got the impression that only the church hierarchy had the knowledge and authority to make this interpretation. After the sermon, I was invited to partake of a pot luck gathering they had after the service and I took that opportunity to mingle with the members. It was not really productive in terms of my finding out more because most of my questions were deflected with proclamations of how wonderful it would be if I were to join their ranks. I was mostly non-comital and told them that I would be attending another service in two weeks.
The Thursday service was much of the same with the exception that it was wholly in Tagalog and I was able to glean more information from the members during the pot luck. One thing I did encounter though was that after the sermon, as some people were leaving, the minister Ka Cipriano, singled out a member as she walking to the door and said that Ka Remy was forgetting her obligation/duty to the organization. The lady stopped and looked embarrassed and dug something out of her purse and put what I assume is money in the tithe basket that was passed around earlier. I did
