A behaviour management policy is a policy that is placed which focuses on actions for schools to take to make sure that pupils develop positive altruistic behavior and are able to deal successfully with unsuitable pupil behavior.

With inappropriate and difficult behaviour the practitioner would have to waste precious lesson time to deal with a child’s bad behaviour which would dramatically reduce the time the other children have to learn. This time could have possibly been used to have one to one time with the children or complete teaching activities as a whole class. Every practitioner wants to be able to create an effective teaching and learning environment where positive behaviour is encouraged. Ofsted recognised a strong connection between behaviour and the curriculum as a vital element in effective classroom management. Their report 'Managing Challenging Behaviour ' focused on the relationship between good behaviour and good schooling. Adjusting the curriculum so that it is applicable to the child’s requirements engrosses them in the process of learning; this is an important aspect in encouraging positive behaviour.
An improperly designed or inadequately fit curriculum may direct to problematic and disgruntled behaviour from some. Utilizing these connections is the key to successful and positive behaviour management and to creating the belief of behaviour for learning as an important part of the school
