A Rose For Emily Alone Essay

Do you know how it feels to be alone? If yes, you know it gets very depressing when you have no one to confide in. Can you imagine what Emily was going through? I cannot even fathom what she was going through, but I can try to see why Emily was so single-minded and scared to try new things. In the short story “ A Rose for Emily” we are introduced a character named Emily Grierson, right at the beginning of the story author William Faulkner, tells us Emily is dead and everyone from the town is at her funeral. Emily Grierson was considered strange in her town because she refused to change her old ways, was surrounded by death, and was lonely Emily Grierson was a southern quite mysterious woman. The reason being is Emily didn 't get out much, she shields herself in her home to stay away from human contact. She was an outsider and distanced herself from people; preventing them from knowing who she truly was. No one in the town really knew her true identity because she would always hide in her house. According to the story, Emily’s house was described as dark, messy, and dusty. Instead of having a house she had a filthy mess, her house wasn 't a house anymore; it was surrounded by garbage bags and cotton. Her house was kind of like the haunted house, no one but her lived in it. Some could even say it was an abandoned house because from a perspective of townsperson it looked desolate.This is an example of someone who is done trying to make things look nice and tired of living.Unfortunately, death likes to take its time, it likes to mess with people because it knows it 's going to happen eventually. Death is the only thing we know for sure that is going to happen, people don’t know when, where or how it will happen, but they know it’s coming.
