Depression can cause people to become internally unstable. People can become unfit to make their own decision and are unable to judge right to wrong. Leading the lives of people not allowing them to express their emotions or needs. In these two stories “Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Gilman and “A Rose of Emily” by William Faulkner certainly, shows the depressions lines of both females in the stories.
In the stories “A Rose for Emily” written by William Faulkner, and “The Yellow Wallpaper” written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, point of view talks about how two women’s are experiencing the same emotional situations they have to endure. Both of these stories express the mood and physical trials the characters have to endure on an everyday basis. In the story “The Yellow Wallpaper” uses imagery of a woman who is oppressed and is suffering from depression and loneliness. In “A Rose for Emily” it is showing the character struggle of maintaining a tradition and struggling with depression. Both of the stories resemble uncontrollable changes and the struggles of acceptance the characters face during those changes.
Prior to the legend of the twentieth century, men assigned women’s roles (myth). Although, a men determining women’s behavior affected all women, mainly middle class women suffered.
