When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally, was released in 1989 as a romantic comedy and has now made number 2 in the top 50 romantic comedies of all time according to Paste Magazine. It is one of my favorite romantic comedies and is a movie that can be used as an example in various student settings. It is a good example for interpersonal communications and even video production classes on how it was filmed and the shots they used.
The explicit meaning of the movie is about a woman named Sally and a man named Harry who met when they drove together from Chicago to New York in 1977. When they were driving to New York they stop at a diner where they argue over the fact if men and women can be just friends. This leaves Sally upset, making the

They go back and forth through the entire movie trying to figure out the answer. In the beginning Sally thinks they can, where Harry disagrees because he says it can never work because one of the parties likes the other or they want to have sex with the other. When they meet at the airport they talk about the topic again, when harry states that it is possible if both parties are in a relationship, but Sally still declines to be his friend. When they meet yet again in the bookstore and become friends they both agree that they can be friends without wanting to have sex with the other party. And when the start to like each other and actually do have sex they realized that it ruined their friendship, but not forever because soon after Harry realizes that he is in love with Sally and she realizes she is in love with him as well. So I think the director and producer subtly told everyone that you can’t be just friends with a man and a women because something does get in the way, usually feelings for the other …show more content…
Depending on what point in the relationship Harry and Sally where in, the director placed them closer together or farther apart. When they first met and they went to the diner they have not only the table separating them but they also have two men in the background placing them farther apart, this is when they had an argument about who she had great sex with and him “making a pass at her”. Another scene was when they became close friends and walking and talking through the part they were very close and even touching shoulders and arms together. Lastly when they had the fight at the wedding you saw them standing far apart with people in-between them in the background showing their distance in the relationship at that point. It was not something I had ever really caught onto when I watched the movie the first few times, but now that I am really looking I can see little things the director and producer have done to show relationships using

Family Assessment of Shelby Eatenton Latcherie Family does not have a universal definition, and over the years the definition has changed from a traditional mother, father, and children to several variations. Examples of these are parents that are unmarried, are of the same sex and those that do not live in the same household but do what is called co-parenting. The definition of family according to Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco, & Hanson (2015) is "Family refers to two or more individuals who depend on one another for emotional, physical, and economic support. The members of the family are self defined" (p. 5). The movie, Steel Magnolias, is based on a true story but names, details and events have been changed.…

The Breakfast Club This movie is about a day of Saturday detention and group of teenagers fitting in your typical high school stereotypes. It was brilliantly written with teenagers in mind. They could identify with each character and their portrayed stereo type. They all had at least one thing in common and that was that they didn’t get along with their parents. This is realistic for who really got or gets along with their parents in high school.…

To start off, I want to say that I loved this film. I never had an exact preconceived attitude towards this film other than hearing it was one to watch. Also, I absolutely adore Michael Cera and knowing what goofy characters he has played in the past helped me quickly accept and relate to the quirky characters we see in Juno. It is obvious that the explicit meaning of this film is the story of a teenage girl who gets pregnant.…

With the word existentialism, you have to think outside of the box on what a definition could be. Although there is a general definition described as a philosophy concerned with finding self and the meaning of life through free will, choice, and personal responsibility (“Existentialism”). I chose the movie entitled Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. Heading into the movie I was not expecting to get any knowledge out of it but to my surprise I did. This movie is one of many great examples of existentialism.…

The movie “Arranged” is a drama-induced film with a powerful message of integrity that religious women uphold. Arranged is a film that displays traditions that are very important in a religious household, such as marriage. Coming from two completely different traditions, Rochel, an orthodox Jew, and Nasira, a dominant Muslim, come to realize that their process for marriage is very similar. I chose to do this assignment rather than the bus ride because once I read what the movie was about, I began to be very interested in learning how the process of marriage works in other religions besides my own. I recently got engaged so I was looking forward to comparing the processes from the two women in the story with my own experiences since I am looking…
