A rite of passage we all must face comes upon us when we realize the time has come to decide what we want to do with our lives. For some, the answer comes easily, for others it is the culmination of a life time experiences speaking to them until the answer appears. For me, in the end, it came down to what job I would love to do every day, as well as a job that reflects my specific skills, values, and temperament. The majority of my life has been spent in school where I witnessed various teachers using all sorts of methods to impart knowledge to their students. How they learned to teach has been a subject I’ve always found fascinating. I sought to know how and when people acquire basic knowledge which we take for granted: i.e. arithmetic, fundamental …show more content…
Back then I tutored the new recruits, taught them how to read music, and the proper playing techniques. My interest in teaching has remained a steady companion; I have continued teaching music and tutoring others in anthropology. As a teacher 's assistant at Warner Avenue Elementary School I have worked with kindergarteners and 1st graders. I love watching the renewed curiosity and wonder in their eyes after I answer their many questions. I remember one of the children asking me about rainbows and why she couldn’t see one every day. I explained to her how rainbows usually appeared soon after it rained due to the water still in the air. I told her that sunlight has all of the colors in the rainbow, but we can’t usually see it. The next time it rained she saw the rainbow, and I watched as she explained to all of her friends what I had told her. Being able to help children gain any kind of knowledge and watching as they see it in the classroom and in their lives is an experience no one could …show more content…

Ultimately, my goal is to emulate the great teachers of my past to impart knowledge onto new generations, and instill in them a passion for learning in turn. As a teacher I would bring to the job my passion for learning, my intense desire to instill that in others, and never ending pursuit of knowledge to pass onto
