As the American election is about to begin, politicians from various parties are in the process of campaigning for the position of President. To allow people to know that they are campaigning for President, politicians start off by going through the process of making advertisements to introduce their arguments on television as well as on the Internet. They do this so that they are able to tell Americans what they think they can do to make America better and increase their chances of winning. Since Ted Cruz knows that a lot of people tend to soften up and carry a positive emotion when they see children present in an advertisement he is able to use that to his advantage. When he starts to talk about, “a new generation of courageous conservatives,” he immediately demonstrates young people in support of the America or in other words, his “conservative political party.” He does this by including an image of young students in a classroom reciting the pledge of allegiance. Ted Cruz’s emphasis on “courageous conservatives” demonstrates a positive depiction of the conservative party as well as for him being President. Since he includes a very positive view of conservatives in his advertisement already, he then pushes people in the audience who are not in support of conservatives to rethink their decision so they will vote for him. Another way Ted Cruz is able to appeal to pathos in his political advertisement is when he links a series of images of people smiling near the end of his video, while he states that, “I’m ready to stand with you to lead the fight.” Their smiles are able to demonstrate their happiness and agreement with what Ted Cruz plans to do and making it harder for people to disagree with his views because they want to be as happy as the people are in the
