The international fashion magazine Cosmopolitan, which started as a family magazine, but later on, it changed into a women's magazine. The magazine covers different issues related to women. For example, relationship, health, career, fashion, and beauty. The purpose of the magazine is to discuss the issues of women and to educate women about health and fashion. The author uses pathos in order to convey women how important beauty, fashion, and healthcare is. The author places an importance on subjects such as lifestyle, relationships, and beauty in order to make women think more about these subjects. In the middle of the magazine, there is a model with perfect skin and hair. The author also uses phrases in order to catch the attention of readers. For example, “My life as a size 18…” This catches the attention of young girls because nowadays many young girls are concerned about their weight. The author uses images and phrases in order to make the young generation read the magazine. The use of images shows young girls that they can look like a model by following what the magazine tells them to do. The Cosmopolitan magazine sends wrong and inappropriate messages to young girls and women. It shows young women that if they want to look pretty they need to be thin and use different types of beauty products. They set their beauty standard high so that their products will sell. Most of the magazines portray young and beautiful models which can make young girls feel unwanted, make their self-esteem low, and it can result in unhealthy eating habits. The editor appeals to celebrity fallacy by using a picture of Kendall Jenner implying the idea that Kendall Jenner uses this foundation so you should too. The author uses this fallacy in order to convince women to buy certain products. According to the findings of Gloria Steinem in her book “Sex Lies and advertisements,” she proves that mostly all the Cotentin women magazine is some kind of advertisements. The same applies to the magazine of Cosmopolitan, by examining the magazine most of the content discusses topics such as beauty and makeup and the advertisement is all about beauty products. After inspecting the magazine closely it is clear to say that the author made the magazine in order to sell products and place advertisements in the magazine. The content and the advertisements are also related because the author uses the content to draw the reader closer to the advertisements. The advertisements that are used in the magazine is related to the content because the content elaborates on how to look attractive and have the best body. The advertisements that are included in the magazine are mostly about makeup products, hair products, clothes, and jewelry. The content is the same as the advertisements. The editors organized the magazine this way in order to make the readers buy the products
