A Rhetorical Analysis Of Article By Jay Mathews

Several million students traverse the hallways of high school every single day. Often these students are stressed and overwhelmed, especially those in their junior year. In the article by Jay Mathews, he correctly points out a variety ways in how to handle this hard year. In the article Mathew uses diction to appeal to his audience , by using words that juniors know because its apart of their everyday life . He achieved his main goal throughout the article because as us juniors are reading it we understand everything he's saying and it's relates to us . He used slang and slogans that we understand like “ PSAT ” or the “SAT”. Us juniors know that , if I freshman was to read it they wouldn't really cared because they don't know much about it and how important it is . In the article there were some parts where it was meant to be dramatic and in a way because we knew he really meant the opposite of what he was preaching . One part he says “ when I say “ see ” , I mean be in the same room with them and talk and laugh and play music ” he was being dramatic about the whole situation cause nowadays us teenagers now absolutely love being on social media and a cellular devices . Yes we might call and text our friend but actually see our friends face to face besides side school days are not so common as you probably wouldn't think . It's true though it's hard nowadays to actually meet up with your friends and go somewhere and fun have , take your mind of things . That was a plus because he knew that will one make us second think like maybe I should go hang out with my friends and actually do something .
