A Rhetorical Analysis Of A Speech By Steve Jobs

In his speech Steve Jobs explains that you should always trust in yourself to get you somewhere. He states in the beginning of the speech that “You have to trust in something— your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and It has made all the difference in my life.”(Dlugan, 2005). In that part he tells you to just believe in yourself because you never know where you're going to end up even if you wanted to be a teacher and you end up being a doctor. Your heart is going to lead you to what you really want to do even if It might be completely different from what you thought. The way that he explains his life and how he had so many ups and downs makes me think that if someone who dropped out of college, but still stuck around and took classes when he didn’t have to became a millionaire then I can do anything I put my mind too. It's harder now starting our own businesses without an education. But it is way too expensive to go to college even more so now than it was when he said this “ But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition.” (Stanford Report, 2005). It is honestly so difficult to go to college after high school and not be in complete debt by the time you're done with your schooling. However there are not many programs in high school that offer you the opportunity to be successful in life with just a high school education. I believe that is mainly the high school's fault for not offering classes like they used to. They used to offer auto shop at school and you could take that as an elective class all four years.
