Next, challenges and opportunities in the space policy is addressed for the future mission. In a research article by Abbe, et al. (2005), challenges and opportunities on US space policy were focused. This literature has highlighted the major differences in terms of policy, challenges and conditions in space during Apollo and the present time. There is growing reliance on space and its role at the present scenario. U.S. civilian space science and human exploration programs have expanded over the years and has made rapid progress. But then, there are the four barriers such as export controls on space commerce, the projected shortfall in the U.S. science and engineering workforce, inadequate planning for the future of NASA and the U.S. civilian space program and a loss of international cooperation. These barriers need not remain obstacles to future U.S. efforts in space commerce, science and technology, and human exploration, but it is worthy to reassess current space policy in order to remove them.
