Scientist have helped farmers buy creating a genetically altered seed that can grow faster and still have all the same quality’s as the original seed. Barbra Wexler states in her article Genetics and Genetic Engineering, “To meet the appetites of the world’s population without drastically hurting the environment requires a visionary new approach: combining genetic engineering and organic farming.” Biotechnology could also help out in the world’s meat production by developing genetically altered animals to grow more meat. However by altering animals to grow more meat creates problems with the USFDIS (United Sates Food and Safety Inspection Service). Most of these problems are being over looked because of all the good genetically altered food can provide. It can reduce the worldwide shortages of a certain food item. Not only reduce shortages it could also grow the food in half the time for half the price, which results in the item to be cheaper than it originally, was. This allows people around the world to get food who are not able to afford the original price due to economic situations. With all the benefits genetic engineering provides in the food industry scientist have gone as far as saying that it could one day solve the worldwide hunger …show more content…
Biotechnology could potentially save many lives and even improve them but it also comes with a risk. The next question I asked Doctor Jaradots was what are his thoughts on genetic engineering. “Biotechnology does look promising but how ever the amount of doctors that actually understands it to its full potential lack. In my opinion society should wait a little longer until we find out more about this new technology.” This statement form Doctor Jaradot provides information that doctors are still living in the past and are cautions about upcoming technology especially genetic
