Writing a research paper is a technique that can be perfected overtime with a lot of practice. Overtime, a certain structure has formed that sets the standards for a good paper. Some of the basic parts of a paper include: a title, an opening paragraph, body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. However, just knowing these elements alone are not sufficient enough to create a research paper that is up to standards. There are many more qualities that need to be displayed in order to create an excellent paper.
The first part of the paper is the title of the paper. In order to create a title, the author of the paper must decide what their paper will be about. Thus, by gathering this information, it will be a lot easier determining a title.The title should not be something generic such as "Research Paper" but it should have something to do about the content of the actual paper. After choosing a title, the next step is the opening paragraph. The opening paragraph should contain an opening sentence, brief information about the topic of the paper, and a thesis statement. This is why having others look at the paper is a vital part for writing a research paper. Citing is also very important because if a research paper is not properly cited, this can lead to paper containing plagiarism which is illegal. If plagiarism is found in an author 's research paper which can lead to something like a bad grade in class or a loss of credibility in their job.
