What Is Social Entrepreneurship?

Superior Essays
Throughout my research on the entrepreneur’s life, I was able to realize that the path I was going on since high school of opening a social entrepreneurship as a tutor is what I still want to do. The main reason I chose this specific social entrepreneurship is that during my elementary school and high school years, I did not only just pay attention to what was being taught, but also how my teachers were teaching each subject. As I grew up, I was able to see myself as a teacher. However, when I realized that math was the only subject that attracted me, I began to take courses that were more depth in math. Slowly, I started to realize that the way math was taught to me in high school was essentially not correct, as the material in high school …show more content…
However, I felt that the teachers did not provide students answers to such as, “Why each step is being done” in order to solve the math problem. Personally, when I entered Simon Fraser University and began to take courses in mathematics I learnt that the teachers in high school did not teach students in a way that allowed for each student to fully understand the material that best suits their individual needs. Thus, I always was looking for a way to improve the education system as I felt it is broken and incomplete. Therefore, through this Day-In-Life project I was able to spend a day with New Heights Tutoring Centre to realize that this way I would be able to improve the education system and make sure that students do not go through the struggle in their …show more content…
The main reason that I felt that I would love to follow the footsteps of Mrs. Singh is due to the fact that New Heights Tutoring Centre has one-on-one tutoring sessions which are the finest way to enhance a student’s education. I have learnt that with the one-on-one sessions the tutors are able to utilize their different teaching techniques that satisfy the students’ needs. This procedure has truly encouraged me, since I feel that this organization does not only have the ability to benefit the students who are struggling in school to understand the vital concepts in each subject, also it is helping to improve the education system.

I feel that this social entrepreneurship is able to deliver the value accordingly to the individuals’ needs. That is, with such one-on-on tutoring businesses, I feel that the material that I lacked in my education during my elementary and high school years in math and other subjects, students now are being provided with such guidance from services like New Heights Tutoring Centre. Personally for me, this is a great way to improve the education system because the students are provided help from an individual who is teaching the student in a specific way that suits the student’s learning

Being a graduating senior at Cook High School, I have attended school for approximately 2,324 days. As Ray LeBlond, member of Vancouver 2010 Speaker’s Bureau, famously said, “You learn something new everyday.”. Borrowing LeBlond’s ideology, I have roughly learned over two thousand lessons from school and my teachers alone. To say that one was somehow more valuable than the others would simply not be true for they all have shaped me into the person that I am today. However, describing every lesson that has affected and changed my life would take very long and is not very logical, I am going share one of the lessons that I learned from my seventh grade math teacher, Ms. Canfield.…
