OVERVIEW

As EECS.Inc is growing fast and seeking new innovations in the fields of electrical engineering and computer science, we, a team of the engineering interns, were assigned to research an innovation which will not only be profitable for our company, but with improve the lives of our customers.

We have finished the research focusing on autonomous drones for business use. First, we found that producing autonomous drones for business purposes is achievable since there are companies that are also working on it and its technology is similar to other autonomous vehicles. Second, we focused our research on improvements to the autonomous drones’ control system by providing larger image data and on revising the learning system. Our recommendation

Drones are capable of communicating with each other, but other obstacles would be commonplace at the relatively low altitudes that they would be flying at. It is critical that there be as little error as possible, not just for the safety of the drones and their cargo, but for any pedestrians that may be underneath them. In order to minimize the probability of any accidents, we recommend extensive testing of any sense and avoid software, even with the improvements we’ve …show more content…
The FAA as well as activists looking to pass anti drone legislation are concerned with the safety issues listed above as well as privacy that may be invaded by using this technology [3].

BENEFITS FOR PURSUING AUTONOMOUS DRONE TECHNOLOGY

This section will discuss the necessity of innovation in the area of autonomous flying vehicles. Our software provides increased safety in the use of autonomous drones through advanced machine learning algorithms which allow our drones to reach their destination safely and accurately every time. Past attempts in this field have failed because of navigation problems and issues with obstacles which our software solves.

Our software will achieve a high level autonomy system, being able to locate the vehicle on maps and recognize objects and make decisions based on information learned and observed. This is a higher level vision-based navigation system compared to the traditional (x,y,z) GPS system. It is supported by suitable hardware to estimate distance and altitude. The relative position obtained will help the drone to detect its speed. The work of this internal software will help the drones to stabilize itself in sky.

A drone is any unmanned aircraft that one can program or they can be autonomous. These robots often use GPS technology to be more accurate when preforming a task. Additionally, in most states an individual must receive a certificate of authorization from the FAA before using drones for any purpose other than recreational. The Federal Government uses drones to make citizens lives safer and easier by monitoring wild fires, supporting law enforcement, and training the military. However, the demand for consumer drones is increasing rapidly due to the FAA Modernization and Reform act, which is a four-year plan to introduce new aviation technology into our government, causes many people to question the drone’s nature within our country (FAA Modernization…

Drone usage in Military I. Introduction Back in the 1800s, no one would even imagine using an unmanned aerial vehicle in the military. Through the years, however, technology has changed the way we live our life and how we fight our wars. From having to fight only on grounds to killing a target using an aircraft that is being controlled thousand of miles away. This paper will concentrate on the military usage of unmanned aerial vehicle also known as drones. The United States military uses two types of drones: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV).…

Drones have become the latest technological advancement to face controversy. " Domestic drones are small, unmanned aircraft capable of delivering packages or capturing photos"(Rule, 2015, p. 156). Thomas (2015) states “Drones are devices that use a group of sensors to measure velocity, orientation, gravitation, wind speed and more and send data to a controller that mathematically processes that incoming data” (p. 17).…

Unmanned aerial vehicles, UAV, or drones as they are more commonly known, have become more popular means of eliminating targets as of late. Drones, basically robots, have completely changed modern war. These aircrafts can either be controlled remotely or can be programmed to fly automatically. Drones are more commonly used for military missions but have been dabbling in other areas such as search and rescue, weather monitoring, firefighting and even package delivery. Drones consist of four main parts; Ground Satellite, Air Satellite, Aircraft, and the Communications hub.…

A wildlife conservationist once said, “Extinction is forever, endangered means we still have time.” Most poachers are after elephants’ precious ivory tusks, which are used to make statues, jewelry, and other prized objects. Conservationists are using these two devices to turn back to drone technology as well as global positioning systems (GPS) & ink injections to fight back against poachers. Poaching is a growing global concern that will continue to destroy wildlife if we do not do something about it. One way to slow down animal poaching is by creating better aerial security where wildlife lives.…

Having a long history, the first drones created by Samuel P. Langley date back to 1849 where steam powered air balloons would take aerial pictures in reconnaissance missions. Today, on a federal level a drone provides the military with unmanned aircraft capabilities, the most commonly known MQ-1 Predator is used to perform missions. For research organizations and recreational use, stores and online businesses have smaller versions of these drones for sale, the most commonly known the quadcopters which all have different designs. Although expensive these drones could have the potential to help with video capture, monitor nature, surveillance over territories and research. These drones also have the potential to crash, cause accidents, be hacked,…

There are plenty of different drones in the marketplace, but one of the best I have piloted is the DJI Phantom 3 Professional. Capable of 4K ultra-high definition video, this drone also produces live streams video to iOS and Android devices so that the pilot can see exactly what the drone is seeing. The really unique feature about this particular model is the presence of Vision Positioning system, which allows for stable and predictable flight whenever a GPS signal is not available. Of course outside with GPS reception, this drone is capable of automatic landings and takeoffs and built-in programming of no-fly zones. A DJI Phantom 3 review would not be complete without mention of intuitive controls and stability during flight.…

Though they have mainly been utilized in military functions, the continued development of UAVs is leading toward civilian application in addition to continued military use. The use of UAVs in commercial environments brings with it a new set of safety risks which must be investigated, analyzed, and mitigated in order to ensure safe operation in the national airspace system (NAS). (Lum & Waggoner, 2011.) This paper will investigate the existing safety systems in place for the Northrop Grumman made Global Hawk UAV in order to understand what the existing safety systems entail, how they will work when introduced into the NAS, and what additions may be required in…
