Analysis Of Nusa Dua

The beach area that I will be examining is located in Nusa Dua in Bali, Indonesia. Nusa Dua is located in south Bali. Nusa Dua translates literally ‘Two Islands’- although they are actually small raised headlands, each with a small temple (“Introducing Nusa Dua”, 2016). This island has the most tourists compared to any other islands. Nusa Dua is home to the most popular golf course in Bali and the main convention centre on the island (“Nusa Dua”, 2016). Not to mention the beaches as well, fill with white sand. Bali in general attracts almost 1000,000 tourists a year. It is famous for its beaches, hotels and bars. Wong (1998) mentions that coastal development in Southeast Asia has largely been unplanned and spontaneous in order to meet tourism demand. Since tourist’s demands are changing rapidly, developers are willing to put on money for the development of resorts or road access. Government in this case has little or no enforcement on it. Developers on the other hand keep on destroying the eco system or the environment itself. This factor could influence the generation of beach resorts. The last challenge would be to destroy the local’s culture. As more and more resorts being built along the coastline, local’s culture or heritage decreases gradually. In the case of 1993, there was a protest movement against the construction of the Bali Nirwara Resort, close to the holy sea temple of Tanah Lot (Northolt, 2007).
