Hello fellow students, today I’ll be talking to you about type 1 diabetes, otherwise known as diabetes mellitus. Diabetes type 1 is a disease that is inherited through DNA (Diabetesaustralia.com.au, 2015). This type of disease cannot be cured and is unpreventable, meaning the holder can have it occur at any stage in their life. Diabetes type 1 stop the creation of insulin to the body, which means that Glucose cannot be broken down, into much needed nutrients for the body.

The symptoms that are hyperglycemia makes are; high blood glucose, high levels of sugar in the urine, frequent urination and increase thirst. There are ways that people can usually cut down their blood glucose levels and that’s mainly exercising. People generally go straight to their doctor and look for other ways to cut down fat, as exercising might not be option at this time. People who have hyperglycemia don’t usually exercise because they can created the diseases ketoacidosis.
Ketoacidosis is a serious conditions that can lead to diabetic coma or even death. The cells need glucose to run off, but when they don’t get enough glucose they start to burn fat for fuel, which then produces ketones. Ketones are chemicals that the body produces when it breaks down fat, generally for the use of energy (American Diabetes Association). The body does this when it’s primary source of energy, glucose, isn’t broken down by insulin, causing the body to start burning off fat for fuel and in the end produce the chemical Ketone which in high quantities can be damaging to the human
