Findings on Class Management While there are many issues that play out within a classroom and school, it is a responsibility towards both teachers and administration to help address the issue. However, as teachers have their own ideas towards an issue, Educational Psychologists provide what seems to be ideas of how to properly undertake the issue. One of the many issues which is seen amongst schools is classroom management. This process is highly important for a teacher as it sets an establishment of ensuring how classroom lessons will run smoothly despite disruptive behavior by students. A technique mentioned within my interview was establishing rapport with each and every one of the student as it goes a long way to becoming an effective teacher. By doing so, it contributes towards other areas, such as dealing with disruptive students. Having that one-on-one relationship with the student who is being disruptive gives the teacher an opportunity at knowing the student at a personal level, thus making it easier to get to the root of what is bothering or making the student disruptive. With overlapping activities in a classroom being a risk of misbehavior as mentioned by my interviewee, it is the teacher’s responsibility to diminish whatever disruptive behavior is occurring. As these establishments are made throughout the year, it is highly important towards setting the tone of who is in charge at the beginning of the year as well as setting an effective behavior management plan since day one. In regards to consequences, a syllabus is the solution for how to go about the infractions that may occur in the classroom. Another way in which this issue is played out and handled by the teacher is delivering the expectations one has for their students just as being fair and consistent with everyone. 448). Within having a behavior management plan, it helps towards organizing the classroom environment, establishing clear rules and procedures, and delivering an effective instruction. As mentioned upon my interview having used the techniques previously mentioned leads to being organizational and having excellent management skills. By doing so, the consistency is kept by not changing any of the topics being taught that day in avoidance of teaching a topic that might not have been taught within a previous class period.
