It has been approximately about one month since my field experience has begun. With this experience I was able to discover some of the challenges teachers may face within their classroom. However, those challenges are not negative it’s simply a part of the profession. Through this field experience I have been able to get an outlook on the cognitive and intellectual, motivational, behavioral, as well as language and culture issues that may arise within the walls of a classroom. From this experience I was able to identify them and learn how I could incorporate these solutions to my future classroom. During my field at Nitschmann Middle School, I have seen a variety of issues that occurred in the classroom. I am assigned to Mrs. Kvacky, a learn …show more content…
Nonetheless, one behavioral issue that arises in each class that I observe is constant use of the restroom. Students ask right after on another to go to the bathroom, creating distractions for their peers. My cooperating teacher did curve this behavior by discussing the issue with the class and informing students that she would limit the amount of times that they are allowed to go to the bathroom. After my cooperating teacher made that announcement fewer students asked to go to the bathroom. More common behavioral issues that are the norm such as calling out, talking while the teacher is talking, and being disruptive do occur in these classrooms. Of course the teacher supervising the group does correct any disruptive behaviors that does interfere with their …show more content…
One of the main strategies commonly used by all of the teachers is lecture. Students are responsible for having a notebook for each class, and each class has a similar set up of how students are supposed to take notes. One item that sticks out about their note taking is that they have to use active engagement constantly. How? Each teacher requires their students to have multicolored tools to complete their notes. Major headings must be in one color and any other supporting information should be in another color. Particularly in their mathematics class, they use the colored pencils to outline certain steps and their results so students could visualize the origin of their answer. This particular method allows students to actively engage and act on what they are learning, which is a very crucial part of the learning process. Mastery learning is another strategy use by Mrs. Hood, a social studies teacher at Nitschmann Middle School. Mrs. Hood challenges her students to learn, she uses tactics to master the content and she incorporates methods of active learning to teach her students. Throughout her lesson, Mrs. Hood asks her students questions constantly, she also quizzes her students on that content as well. Mrs. Hood really focuses on students’ comprehension of the material; that they understand and could be assessed on this material. She is a very admirable

I believe that she is fulfills the expert aspect for this paper because like with most classes, she has a very diverse classroom when it comes to behaviors, yet it is clearly apparent that her class is more managed when comparing other classrooms. Mrs. Heckman has 38 years of teaching experience where she has taught third grade for eight years; kindergarten for ten years; and first grade for twenty years. The following…

When it came to behavioral problems in the classroom, the teachers would very rarely address the inappropriate behavior of a the student, and instead would just give them a time-out type of punishment. Some children would have to move a clip with their name on it from a “paying attention, learning” board, to one reflecting their current attitude, “disruptive, not focused.” However, in this process, the student was never thoroughly spoken to about their actions, although, I must note again, that I was only present for a short period of time and while issues may have been addressed at a later date, they were not when I was…
