My Geometrical Design Project

A Reflection On My Geometrical Design Project

My project was given to me on the January 8, 2018; a week into the start of school. I was not expecting a big project like this to be given so early in the year, so I pushed it away for a week until I began practicing drawing the shapes from examples on the booklet, and I could get a firm grasp on what I was doing, and not make as many mistakes when beginning on the final project. The main goal of this project was to make a geometric design -hand drawn- on a poster board or anything as big as one, and to draw at least 6 two-dimensional designs and be able to name at the minimum 8 constructions in total. The designs were a series of complex shapes made up of smaller units which were the

I was able to draw the shapes just fine, and took the patience to make the lines neater. The one thing giving me trouble were the mesh corners. I had seen many videos doing it and tried to replicate their design, but I always made one or more mistakes that threw me off track, and I wasn’t able to get that curve illusion. My problem, was in the measurement of distance between my lines and the amount I drew. I started drawing uneven right angle borders, with uneven marks to represent the distance between each line drawn or that was to be drawn. This many lines meant I would have draw very finely, which always made me skip connecting one line to the right end. That amount of lines also made it to where the illusion of the curve didn’t show as much for the size that I was drawing. I struggled until I found a rule of 7, where I simplified it to only making 7 lines and marks on each side of the corner. This also made the drawing easier to keep track of, made it look neater, and made the curve illusion I wanted pop out more. It also made tracing with sharpie later look neater and avoid a smudging of lines. I drew four corners with mesh designs, and started on my final poster. The center of my poster consisted of the regular Star of David, which was the biggest design in my poster and the one I felt I drew best. Surrounding it, I had two more Stars of David across from each other, but this time, using the overlapping triangles design, which were six equilateral triangles overlapping each other to make a star pattern. On the opposite diagonal, I drew two of the same kind of interwoven squares. In the end I had 5 shapes, one Star of David, two overlapping triangle designs and next to it, interwoven squares. Surrounding them, were four corner of mesh grid design. I decided to do a pattern on my mesh designs to make it more interesting, so I colored

I am not a creative person. When we were told about the project and that we had to come up with an idea to draw or create our own ceiling tile, I was not too excited. However, I knew that I had to come up with something since this was a giant part of my final grade. I sat there thinking while everyone else had already basically come up with an idea. Then it hit me, why don't I do it about something I love and have a passion for and that was, baseball.…

This year we were in the Construction workshop. After the normal safety talk the first job for the students was to make a clock. From an assortment of timbers and sizes there were some amazing clocks produced, as can be seen from the pictures.…

When I was in tenth grade, in my marine sciences class we had a group project, in which we had to build three boats. It was the first project of the year, and it was a big part all of our grades. The boats could only be twelve centimeters by twelve centimeters at the most and could only be comprised of the materials provided in the class, tinfoil, two popsicle sticks, straws, tape, paper, etc. Each boat had to serve a different purpose, sail straight, hold thirty dice, or survive waves, and the group that built the boat that served its purpose the best received extra credit. My group consisted of Shane, Kyle, Isaac, and…

Straightedges are used to make straight lines that are exact measurements. There is a need for students to understand and be able to construct geometric figures using a compass and straightedge. This is because students will be able to understand the steps it takes to construct geometric figures, it allows students to understand how to use other geometric tools easier, and it is likely for less mistakes.…

Good design is complex and contradictory this is supported by the statement “less is a bore” and that less doesn 't mean more. By having less you lose the interesting aspects of complexity. Venturi points that the richness and complexity of modern experience needs to be expressed in our architecture. This is further supported by the statement that function doesn 't follow form and that ornaments are valuable for architecture. Ornaments in architecture have meaning, is intrinsically symbolic, and can be used to communicate ideas.…

4.4 Mechanical Design The main design strategy while designing the mechanical structure to mount the solar panel was to keep the design as simple as possible to avoid any complications. Aside from avoiding any complications, the design needed to allow for dual-axial rotation. This was accomplished by allowing the base that the panel is mounted on to rotate about its vertical axis, then elevate the panel off the base perpendicular to the vertical axis and allow it to pivot along its center. The combination of these two motions will allow the panel to be positioned orthogonal to the Sun.…
