Then it was back to the grind with some more workshops, and finally, the important part, dinner. The evening afterward offered new possibilities. We broke into assigned small groups to discuss our assignments. One group worked to prepare mass at 9:00 PM, another group planned a social activity for after mass, and a third group was able to organize Morning Prayer the next day. It just so happened my group was assigned Morning Prayer. That was just great, but obviously it didn’t seem easy, thinking back to the one prepared for this morning. I thought we might be able to handle that, and the rest of the group synonymously agreed. Who though, would write the prayer? I sure didn’t want to listen to a failure like the one this morning, so I volunteered, without contest. I enjoyed being free to write how I wanted with no one to work with and spoon-feed me ideas. To begin, I thought of the most mysterious place I had ever seen and combined that with the images of Jesus Christ. Sprinkling a few metaphors in couldn’t hurt, and I added plenty of descriptive phrases to help add dimension. Deep inside, I wondered if there were rules to writing prayers, for the purposes of respect and all the “fearing” a person is supposed to do in the Lord. Not recalling any rules I reread the prayer: surprisingly it flowed better than I thought. Of course never writing a prayer before, made me a little was reluctant to share it at
