Honor Break Reflection

Improved Essays
It is amazing how much can change in a year, and how much can happen. Last year was truly full of surprises and challenges. Before Christmas break my group of friends separated. We were once six members and then we went different ways. I stayed with two other friends, while the other three moved in to a different group. Around February one of the friends that left came back to us, and is currently one of my best friends. Then we were a group of four, but we got into a fight with one girl, so we went back to being three. Next, last year I was on the honor roll all trimesters. I tried really hard to get into NJHS, but on the first trimester I got an 87 in math and the minimum amount of points you need is 88. Lastly, I feel that in the last year …show more content…
My morals are very ethical and pretty standard. I know I should not steal, lie, etc, and just contribute in a positive way to the world. Values are the pillars of my personality, there many people who like to challenge rules a little, but I am not one of those people; I like to follow the rules and have limits, I am very predictable and you could call me a “goody goody two shoes.” I am organized, strong charactered, persistent, empathetic, loyal, hard working and I have a sense of humor. I have always been very persistent even when I was a baby; my mom always says that when I was about one and a half years old I would stand on the edge of my crib and start yelling “PAWINA TACHEZ!” (My mom's name is Paulina Sanchez), so that she would come and get me out of the crib, and if she didn't come I would not stop yelling, so she had no other option than to come and get me. My personality is my essence, and I love my personality because I believe that I always strive to become a better version of …show more content…
I have played soccer since the second grade, and in my experience all the time, dedication and sacrifice are all worth it. When I am playing soccer I feel free and glorious, I feel like I can conquer and overcome anything. Soccer is my escape, when I play I can forget all about school and teenage drama. And I will admit I did slack on soccer this past year because I forgot how great it felt, because I made excuses, but most importantly I didn't work hard enough. This year I joined the volleyball team, so I will have not only soccer but volleyball too, I don't know if I will be able to keep up with both sports and school work but I will try my best. Every time I get to do something I like it instantly makes my day better, luckily I will be practicing my passion four days a

If it wasn’t for soccer my work ethic would have been absolutely terrible. All of my coaches I have played under have always required the very best no matter what the circumstance is; on the pitch, in the classroom, or in everyday life you had to put one hundred percent in everything you do, or else there’s somebody is ready to take your job. One example is my sophomore year in high school my coach said I would get big minutes this year. That was not the case my touch on the ball, and work ethic dropped off when I was subbed out for a much better player early in the season after our foreign exchange students came to play with us. Near the end of the season I decided to change my position to a place where I would get more playing time; I moved up in age group to play with and against much better competition.…

We had a few struggles with getting everyone to meet sometimes as well as a few disagreements in class about where we wanted to do our volunteer work, but even with those challenges we were able to get through that and achieve our common goal. Adapting to change wasn’t very difficult because I feel our group was the same all year long. We got along with each other from the start and all worked equally as hard to achieve all of our goals. It was a great group to be with and all of us made this year very easy for each other. There weren’t any moments where people didn’t show up to our group meetings or didn’t respond to texts.…

Most of my Junior year experience was awful. It’s already a dreadful year, as at my school you start experiencing the dreaded AP courses, you have to start looking at colleges, you’re being bombarded with more and more responsibilities, and everyone feels as though they’re on the brink of explosion. Tensions are high, the ideas of being calm and stress free lost to the wind. For me, I had to deal with another issue that was more stressful than all of my other problems combined: illness. Over the course of the year I missed 38 days, which doesn’t include the many days I came to school sick due to familial pressure.…

I have been playing soccer since I was three years old, and throughout the years I have learned all the basics that need to be known about soccer. I have been practicing my skills in order to become good at what I do. I can honestly say that I have become really good at what I do. Soccer is not just a sport to me; it is a sport I have been playing for years, a sport I grew up playing with close friends, a sport where not only boys could play but girls could play as well and sometimes girls and boys could be part of a team, and most of all soccer was a sport where I could be aggressive and relieve all my anger and stress that I carried inside. Soccer may have its difficulties and dangers, but it also has its rewards and that is what I love about it.…
