This was my first time reading it but I have watched the movie many times, I was curious about what was the difference between the book and the movie so I decided that I really wanted to read the book. This book is supposedly real in the first part of the book a boy Name Pi narrates about his life when he was in school, high school , and college he first starts of when he was a boy in Pondicherry in the book he tells about his pressure in believing In multiple things like religion and zoology he talks about how Pi got his name, he was named after a place called Piscine Molitor, a Persian swimming club, Later in the book Pi’s father Teaches him and his brother about the dangers of the animals in the zoo by feeding a lion a goat in front of their eyes. Pi was brought up as a Hindu, he learns there are other religions like Christianity and Islam he liked all the religions so he wanted to practice them all. Pi’s parents were so desperate because India’s government and how unfair it was so they decided to move to Canada on June 21 1977 they went on a cargo ship with other people and their animals. In part two it was a bit unclear because Pi is on a boat as he screams for his mother and father to come back to him he also yells for a tiger called Richard parker to join him on the boat , as he realized that it was a horrible idea because this was a wild animal and was uncontrollable and ruthless, Pi finally narrates what happened to the boat and what it felt like to sink with his parent un aware of what’s happening and how he found himself with a orangutan and a zebra to summarize very quickly The hyena which snuck up on to the boat ate the zebra and the tiger ate the orangutan and the hyena Pi fights the tiger for dominants of the area but by the end they both share the place and wash up on the shores of Mexico and the tiger ran off and Pi was rushed to the hospital and in the end he was questioned by the Japanese

In the adapted film Life of Pi directed by Ang Lee and written by Yann Martel, the book is clearly better than the movie. This is almost always the case with book to film adaptations. The story takes place for the most part on a life boat in the Pacific Ocean with a young boy named Piscine Molitor Patel, also known as “Pi” and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. To the movie’s credit such a book as Life of Pi is certainly hard to modify to the big screen in 120 minutes or less considering all the colorful characters and themes that are painted in the novel.…

This week was fun for me because I made the soccer team and we had a fun week of practices. We had much less homework this week than the previous week which was very fortunate because my brother and I had their grade’s curriculum nights so I was not getting home until eight thirty. There were three quizzes/tests this week which was a little rough but I think I got through them well. I thought that the Socratic seminar in LA was a little bit of a dud because…

In both the novel and the film, Pi is not swayed by the fact that others want him to live his life a certain way, but he creates his own path to follow. Pi tries to keep the balance of science and religion in his life, “ Mr. Kumar was Pi's favorite teacher and the reason that he goes on to study zoology, the science that constitutes half his worldview. The other half is religion; hence, he also goes on to get a degree in theology” (Stephens). This dual combination of science and religion that Pi incorporates in his life show how Pi attempts to embrace both aspects of the spectrum. However, while on the boat with the tiger Pi realizes that God alone cannot save him from his situation, and that he must choose to utilize his knowledge in zoology rather than his religious beliefs to succeed.…
