Much like the dystopian and corrupt Republic in Marie Lu’s Legend, the world seems to be a sea of violence, destruction, death, and overall chaos. However, there is a way for some to survive. The American government has created vaults, or well fortified buildings, that can guarantee the safety of those inside during these hard and cruel times in the world, meaning that there is hope for some of the civilians to survive. Unfortunately, there is a keyword there and it is “some.” There is only so much space inside each safe-room, meaning that not everyone can reside in a sanctuary until the chaos ends. I know the precautions to take to make sure a crop plant does not dry up during the summer, freeze during the winter, or die off randomly from a lack of nutrition.. Also, planting and harvesting at the right moments is very crucial the survival of those who rely on the food produced by the crops. For instance, one would not simply just plant a crop in the winter when it’s freezing cold and the plant is likely to die unless cared for by someone with my expertise. There is a certain, well known rule that allows the plants to have a higher chance of surviving since they would only have to go through one season where they have a large chance of dying. There is another effective strategy to gardening called rotation gardening that have I mastered over about three or four years of practicing and gardening with that plan of harvest in mind. One of my most successful gardens was planted and harvested while using the process of rotation gardening. I planted the garden in my backyard using tomatoes, lettuce, blackberries, watermelons, blueberries, and basil. After approximately six to seven months, which tends to be the average time it takes for herbs and crops to fully grow, the garden produced an overabundance of fresh, delectable fruits and vegetables.
