This follow-up study would be a prospective randomized control trial much like the original. Because the original Petrie et al. study had some problems with how small their sample size was and with the size of the pool of participants, a follow-up study should use a larger number of and broader range of participants. At least 150 participants should be enrolled in the study to ensure that the data is more workable than in the original study. Although it might create a better pool of patients to operate the study out of multiple hospitals, this would produce more variables and make it very difficult to analyze the data. Perhaps a next step would be to expand the study to see how different areas of the country respond differently to the intervention.
